Jules J. Berta Vineyard

Owned by husband-and-wife entrepreneurs Jules and Becky Berta, this winery in Albertville, Alabama is known for its muscadine wine and the community that loves it.

The design blends a confident modern language with the warmth of the project’s setting, softening concrete, steel, and bold modern forms into the surrounding trees and natural pond. The central design move cantilevers a box out over an existing pond, placing guests among the vines and above the water. Poured concrete walls on the ground floor give the interior thermal mass, keeping the space cool and solid.

Inside, a restaurant and a speakeasy create two distinct moods. The restaurant is a lively space that seats up to 80 guests and celebrates food, wine, and the craft behind both. The speakeasy offers a more intimate, adults-only bar with a quiet, tucked-away feel.
