Gadsden Riverfront Master Plan
The Gadsden Riverfront Master Plan provides a 30-year vision for phased redevelopment of approximately 100 acres along the west bank of the Coosa. The plan grows out of the Grow Gadsden Comprehensive Plan, shaped by input from more than 2,000 residents, and positions the river as the front door to the city:
"Our vision is to create a thriving city with a welcoming riverfront that stimulates growth, economic development, and recreational activities."
The plan offers guidance on:
Riverwalk, boardwalk, and pedestrian connectivity
Highway 411 realignment and roadway access
Mixed-use, residential, and hospitality development
Parks, open space, and recreational programming
Property assembly and land acquisition
Four districts organize the riverfront: Coosa Landing, River Bluff, Moragne Bay, and Coosa Harbor. Guidance is provided for integrating public investment in infrastructure and amenities with private development to activate the waterfront as an extension of downtown.
