The Auburn University Board of Trustees approved the project architect selection of Chambless King Architects of Montgomery, Alabama, for the Foy Hall Student Veterans Resource Center renovation on Friday, June 5.

The project will expand space and resources dedicated to student veterans, helping better accommodate their needs while increasing visibility and recognition across campus. This investment reinforces Auburn’s focus on supporting the transition from military service to academic life through a more centralized and accessible approach.

On a ceremony on December 13, Chambless King Architects was honored by the Montgomery Chapter of the American Institute of Architects with three awards for two design projects.

Structural testing of building materials takes place inside Auburn University’s Advanced Structural Engineering Laboratory (ASEL) in Auburn, Ala. On the exterior of the building, Chambless King Architects created a design that communicates the structural testing activities taking place internally. Furthermore, in addition to meeting requirements to house the testing facilities themselves, the firm highlighted the building’s structure by exposing it.

On February 28, Chambless King Architects was honored by the Alabama Council of the American Institute of Architects for three design projects. The awards were presented to Chambless King at the Council’s annual Excellence in Design award gala held at the historic Florentine building in downtown Birmingham.

The 2021 Excellence in Design Awards were hosted by AIA Alabama on Saturday, October 16 at The Lodge at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama. The program celebrated the diverse breadth of architecture practiced in the state.

On May 6, the American Council of Engineering Companies of Alabama honored the Auburn University Advanced Structural Engineering Laboratory with a 2021 Engineering Excellence State Award.

The new garage and conference center will be a 'showcase' area for researchers, sponsors, state officials and companies looking for new technology solutions.
