New $82M athletic complex coming to Gadsden

The city of Gadsden has officially broken ground on a massive project, bringing upgraded athletic facilities to the area.
A groundbreaking celebration was held Friday, May 1, signaling the start of construction at the nearly 29-acre site. The city hopes the upgraded facilities create a new sports + recreation destination for people across the region.

The city wants to provide a year-round destination for athletics, providing indoor and outdoor facilities.
Once completed the complex will include:
161,000 square feet of indoor athletics
8 hardwood basketball courts with overlays for volleyball and pickleball
Family entertainment center with arcade games
Duckpin bowling, and sports simulators
Fitness center
Indoor aquatics center with competition pool and zero-entry leisure pool
Meeting and party spaces
4 natural grass, 300-foot baseball and softball diamonds
12 outdoor pickleball courts

Trails
Green space
Playground amenities
Parking
