Alabama is slated to gain a major new tourism amenity next year, and multiple local businesses are a part of the building team.

Chambless King Architects, Stick Architecture, Murray Construction, KPFF, Macknally Land Design, BBG&S, Garner & Associates Engineering, Building & Earth and Katalyst Restaurant Concepts are partnering to renovate Cheaha State Park Lodge in Delta.

Situated on the Cheaha Mountain summit, Cheaha State Park is Alabama’s first state park. It opened in 1933 and covers nearly 3,000 acres. Many structures in the park are the work of the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), a New Deal–era program created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Great Depression that improved the quality of public, natural resources across the country. 

The State Parks Division of the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) is working on one of its most anticipated projects in years: a new lodge at Cheaha State Park atop Cheaha Mountain in Delta.

“We are very excited to announce the new Cheaha State Park Lodge as well as a few additional renovations to this iconic state park,” said Chris Blankenship, ADCNR commissioner. “Our state parks system has made massive strides in recent years on its way to being one of the best in the nation. With this project, we are adding another world-class facility to our growing list of exceptional overnight accommodations and amenities. We look forward to welcoming lodge guests in early 2026.”
